What you'll do

On our Big Easy Food Tour: New Orleans, you'll enjoy a variety of local dishes.

New Orleans is all about food! Name any top chef and chances are they're from here, trained here or own a restaurant here. The chefs, along with traditional foodways here, influence food trends on a global scale. Our tour is a window into the heart of the French Quarter dining scene. You will sample dishes from the Grand Dames of the restaurant world, while getting the backstory from local experts. Learn how these icons have flourished for so long. What made the cuisine the way it is? Who are the families and chefs that keep the culinary standard classic and relevant? What is the difference between Creole and Cajun? And why is the food here so darn amazing?

Truth be told, we could offer a half dozen different food tours in the French Quarter and still never cover all the unique, exciting, joyful food experiences here. You get dining experiences here that you simply won't get anywhere else. Our tour is designed to provide a proper, stimulating, edifying and delicious survey of a food Mecca.

Due to the nature of creating a well balanced and thoughtful gastronomy experience, many of our tours are unable to accommodate certain dietary restrictions. Please contact us prior to booking your tour to see if we're able to accommodate your dietary needs. Most of the shops and restaurants included in the tour will not be able to accommodate strollers/pushchairs. If you have any doubt or concern regarding this matter, please contact us prior to booking.

  • We set the table by providing background into the various cultural influences that shaped the French Quarter and the history behind the architecture, culture and of course, its food.
  • We will show you how other cultures are taking on traditional favorites and reimagining them with new tastes and ingenious new ingredients to gain a whole new legion of fans.
  • For Culture Vultures we've got you covered with nods to must-see "only in New Orleans" museums, art galleries of world famous New Orleans artists, and plenty of recommendations for local music to enjoy after the tour!
  • Top Chefs? The French Quarter is ground zero for Masters of the Menus. We will explore the story of New Orleans' many influential top chefs that are shaping the food scene today.
  • Our Secret Food item is a specialty prepared by one of our most creative and well known chefs, enjoy it while relaxing in her hidden New Orleans courtyard. Learn how she revolutionized not only cooking, but the business of cooking.
  • Step back in time to a restaurant that opened almost two hundred years ago. Very little has changed - well, they finally broke down and included English on the menu. So unchanged, the current owners today are descendants of the original proprietor! Enjoy a classic nibble while soaking in centuries of images, photos, Mardi Gras artifacts and other relics from our treasured past.
  • Next we look at the incredible families that serve as the backbone of the New Orleans food story. Their influence, from training the chefs that are icons today to creating restaurant concepts that have shaped the world food-scape, is something that is unique to New Orleans. While you're there, be tempted by sweet treats that put New Orleans on the map!
  • The tour reaches its yummy end with an instagrammable view overlooking iconic Jackson Square, the epicenter of the French Quarter since its founding. But watch out for ghosts! This spot has stories of hauntings and regularly hosts ghost-watching events.
  • Get your camera ready and share your New Orleans memories with your friends and make them okra-green with envy...

Foreign Transaction Fees

A few banks have charged their customer an extra fee while booking with us (this isn't the booking fee but another fee added by the bank). We think this is unfair, if this happens let us know by showing us in your bank statement and we will refund this fee as a gesture of good will.
